Church Mission Planning

Church Mission Planning

Pathways provides a fairly simple and elegant tool for creating a Mission Action Plan.

Many denominations now insist that member churches prepare a Mission Action Plan at various intervals. Much of what has been written about Mission Action Planning uses a comprehensive approach that often takes more than a year of research, consultation, analysis and planning. Some churches are so exhausted by the planning process that they have little energy for implementation.

Pathways takes a more developmental approach, helping churches to figure out the small number of things they can do in the short-to-medium term to improve effectiveness (there’s a suggested process outlined in the book, supported by simple planning resources on the resources page).

Pathways is not the last word in church planning – if your church is facing challenges that involve major changes to staff or buildings, use one of the comprehensive models. If you just want to be more effective in mission without analysing and planning things to death, Pathways is likely to be very useful to you.
